When an effort began to end greyhound racing in Florida, my first thought was, what would happened if all greyhound racing stopped? Where would people get greyhounds, since they had primarily been adopted as ex-racers? I immediately began looking for where you can get a greyhound puppy and quickly found out it was almost impossible. Then I realized, if you cannot get greyhound puppies, and greyhound racing stops, will the breed go extinct in the US?
In order to prevent the problem, we decided as a family to start breeding greyhounds. We wanted to get in front of the problem, and we wanted to create bloodlines that are unique to the United States, so we can help preserve the breed before it nears extinction. So, we set out to find greyhounds from other countries, that we could bring to the US, and create our own bloodlines. Our idea was to get greyhounds with racing bloodlines, and provide them as pets. We wanted greyhounds that were directly from racing backgrounds, and not greyhounds that met "show" standards. For thousands of years, greyhounds were created and bred to race and chase, and we wanted greyhounds that had that in their blood.
Our Greyhounds are born from current racing greyhounds in Europe. We register our Greyhounds with AKC, and raise them as members of our family. Our dogs, and puppies get constant attention from our large family and kids. The puppies are socialized from birth, and are used to being held, played with, and handled while eating. We also do early neurological training with our pups, starting when they are 3 days old.
Everyone in our family plays a key role in the development of our dogs and puppies. Part of the money that is earned from the puppies goes directly back to the kids savings for their future. Three of our kids want to go the Veterinarian school later on, and we are excited that our family business will help them achieve their goals.
Our puppies all receive so much individual attention, that they are used to it by the time they go to their forever home. We truly love each and every animal we care for, and the love will be evident when you receive your new family member.
Our goal is to produce the healthiest of greyhound puppies, and they come with a health guarantee that is stated in our contract. All of our dogs eat a very healthy diet, and have plenty of room to run and play on our property.
Our dogs receive routine checkups from licensed veterinarians. The health of our greyhounds is always first, and we do not allow our greyhounds to breed every cycle. In addition to routine vet checkups, we monitor the weight of our puppies daily to catch any signs of irregularities while nursing. Our puppy contracts help us maintain record of who our dogs belong to, and help the buyer know what we do in the case of a problem with a placed puppy.
We learned quickly that everything we thought we knew about greyhounds was wrong, when we raised our first greyhound as a puppy. Greyhounds are easy to train, and can learn lots of skills when taught at a young age.
Each puppy starts to show its unique personality at a few weeks old. We start Early Neurological Stimulation at 3 days old, and this starts to show us what each puppy thinks of being in an uncomfortable environment. This allows us to find the right home for each puppy.
The puppies are used to new people and kids, and have no problems showing affection to new people. Greyhound puppies, like retired racing greyhounds, still need a lot of attention. Greyhounds have a hard time being left alone as a puppy.
We believe that creating the best greyhounds starts with us. Hopefully you can see that our mission is to preserve the breed through our families effort. We believe greyhounds are unique and unlike any other dog breed, and we believe our greyhounds are the best around.
